Abandoned Waterpark in Hue, Vietnam
When you’re planning your Vietnam itinerary you might stumble across a few mentions of an abandoned waterpark near Hue.
If like me, abandoned places intrigue you then I highly recommend a visit to this eerie attraction.
Despite it being abandoned it has become a popular spot for backpackers and adventurous travellers alike. So much so that they now have a security guard there for “safety reasons.” If you do a quick google search you will see that it’s become increasingly difficult to visit this place. There are reports of people no longer being allowed in or the guards “no longer accepting bribes.”
We took our chances and made our way down there for sunrise and were lucky to find the gates open. The security hadn’t even arrived yet. We found the dragon and parked our moped nearby. It was here that an elderly Vietnamese couple had set up a drinks stall for all the backpackers who have evaded or successfully bribed the guard. Not wanting to be chased away I decided that I would buy a drink from them and much to our delight we were left alone while others who arrived later were rounded up and escorted out.
My good friends at Unexplored Footsteps have a fantastic write up with all the details you need to experience this place. In the meantime, here is a video and some pictures that I took while we explored the area.
